Our eggs have been in the incubator for 19 days! We took the turner out today because we expect them to hatch soon. It takes about 21 days for the embryo to develop into a chick that is ready to hatch. We candled the white egg again and we think we saw the beak and eye. The eye begins to develop on day 1 and the beak begins to develop on day 6. We are excited about seeing the eggs hatch!Yesterday we candled our eggs to see if there was any growth. We observed signs of development in all 12 eggs.We learn about cycles in second grade. Last fall we observed and studied butterflies. Now we are going to learn about the life cycle of chickens. Mrs. Southwell went to a mini farm in Hutto to get fertile eggs. We plan to put them in the incubator tomorrow. This is the farm the eggs came from: |
